The appointment with Seeds&Chipsthe most important international event dedicated to the Food Innovation. Now in its 4th edition, it will be held in MiCo-Milano Congressi 7 to 10 May.
The programme includes conferences and meetings on topics related to food and innovation in this field, from climate change to robotics, from e-commerce to precision agriculture, from food waste to the circular economy. There will also be an exhibition area with start-ups, companies, incubators presenting their technological proposals and more than 200 international speakers, investors and policy makers from all over the world to discuss the major global challenges.
Particular attention will be paid to an issue that represents one of the main future challenges at global level: water.
The "Call for Ideas WaterFirst!"launched in November 2017, in collaboration with Unido Itpo Italy (the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation's Office for Technology Promotion and Investment), the National Research Council (CNR) and theItalian Institute of Technology (Iit) and aimed at innovators from all over the world to develop projects and innovations for the sustainable use of water, has already gathered 65 projects from 23 countries and 4 continents.
Among the 30 projects that will reach the final stage, 5 will be awarded a 'hospitality' contribution for travel and accommodation in Milan and the top 5 best project will win a prize of 10,000 Euros dedicated to Ambassador Giorgio Giacomelli, a Milanese diplomat who passed away last year, an honorary member of the UN Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation.
Speaking at the press conference presenting the event was the president and founder of Seeds&Chips, Marco Gualtieri: "This fourth edition represents a crucial stage in the journey undertaken in 2015, when food and the environment became protagonists in the debate on the future: from Expo, to the signing of the UN SDGs to the Paris climate agreement, in the space of just one year the world has really begun to grasp the importance of food and environmental issues as crucial for the future of our planet. Seeds&Chips wants to continue along this revolutionary road“.
Important figures such as Howard Schultzexecutive chairman of Starbucks, Nathan Myhrvold, former cto of Microsoft and co-founder of Intellectual ventures, John F. Kerrythe 68th US Secretary of State (he will speak on the importance of climate change in the food system), Sam Kasschef-counsellor of the former US president Barack Obama, Kerry Kennedypresident of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for justice and human rights, Danielle Nierenberg, president of Food tank, Howard-Yana Shapirochief agricultural officer of Mars incorporated, Nicolas Jammet, Phil Lempert (speaking on the topic of large-scale distribution), Sarah Toumiceo and founder of Acacias for all, Shazi Visramfounder and president of Happy family organics, a US company that has changed the way baby food is conceived worldwide and Robert Oppdirector innovation & change management division of the World food programme.
A great contribution will also be made by start-ups, companies and incubators.
On the closing day of the event, 10 May, the Seeds&Chips Awards, prizes for the most innovative projects.
