To the rescue of lovers of the sector comes the Beer Guide of Italy 2019 by Slow Food, a list divided by region that awards a mention to the best beers Italians.

With the passage of time, scientific studies have come to the rescue of tasters of this drink that until a few years ago was considered 'simply' good and thirst quenching. Today, the perspective is changing thanks to those in-depth studies that have demonstrated a number of beneficial properties of beer. Quite apart from any exaggeration, which leads the body not to tolerate any kind of alcoholic strength, with possible consequences on our organs, consuming beer moderately means, for instance, healthier kidneys. Thanks to a study carried out in Finland, it was discovered that consuming one bottle a day reduces kidney stone formation in men by up to 40%. This is because it appears that the hops prevent the formation of stony masses. It also acts directly on the brain, helping to ward off diseases such as Alzheimer's. At the same time, it decreases the risk of cardiovascular attacks of all kinds by between 25 and 40 per cent, according to more than a hundred studies in the field; this is because it is able to raise the levels of 'good' cholesterol (HDL), preventing clogging of the arteries.
Three types of recognition awarded in the Guide to the Beers of Italy 2019, as has been the case in the past. It starts with the Snail, which indicates those breweries local companies that have made the difference in terms of product quality, production consistency and importance. This is followed by the recognition of the Bottle, awarded to the companies that have given their best in each individual glass container with the production of articulated flavours and character. Finally, the Keg award, which mainly concerns simple and easy-to-drink beers.
Unlike in the past with other types of mentions, in the Guide to the Beers of Italy 2019, from Slow Food they let it be known that this is not a ranking by score, but a list of products that deserve to be in a book by right, without necessarily having to specify, as the creators emphasise, “this beer is better than this one". It is, on the contrary, a series of beers that all deserve to be tasted.
